Dear friends,

Does anyone have any experience with testosterone supplements? Apparently, I'm on the low side and my doctor is considering this for me.

"Dr Google" says that this can work well. I'm curious if any one here has had this, and

(a) How did you take the supplement? (shot, patch, pill etc)
(b) How well did it work for you?
(c) Did you notice any side effects?

Thanks for any feedback. I'm hoping this might turn out well.

I use ASOX9 and it's supplement F1 NitroBoost. The F! Nitroboost practically guarantees wood. Works for me every time. But hey, I'm still just under 60.

About 30 years ago I lost a testicle to a cancer scare so I have been on testosterone since. I use the gel form that you just rub on the skin of the upper chest. Works fine, is easy and the only side effect I had was losing some weight and increased libido. It;s also available as an injection but I have never tried that.

I'm going to go with whatever my doctor recommends (nothing over-the-counter). I'm mid 50s, so not that old, but the blood test said "Lo T", so here we are.

I wouldn't mind a little weight loss, and I would welcome increased libido.

Did it help with ED, if you had it?

My doctor has a rather simplistic view on testosterone. I asked him to check mine, he replied "Do you still look at the ladies?" I said "yeah, of course. Double-and triple-takes." He said "Your testosterone level is fine." LMAO!!

Find another doctor. I was still looking at women but when tested I was low. Now using a gel and feel much better.

I am now 47 and I receive a quarterly pellet injection. I have found it very helpful and I have seen benefits such as increase in energy, a more positive attitude and some muscle enhancement.
The purpose of the treatment is to increase your T-levels and unless you misuse it illegally,, you don't have to worry about extreme muscle growth or abnormal behavior, many often refer to as "road rage."
Pertaining to my initial side effects, they were relatively minor and temporary, mainly just acne. Other than that, I have suffered no noticeable issues and I have been on this program for about 5 years.
Speak with a specialist who provides the treatment for a full evaluation and plan. I STRONGLY encourage you to only doing a treatment such as this through direct professional medical supervision. Feel free to DM me, if you have any questions. Hope this helps!

It did give me a little erectile help but a few years later I lost 100 pounds during chemotherapy and that really improved my ability to get as hard as I did as a teen.

I can also attest to the fact that weight loss can be of significant value in reducing ED issues, as I've also lost 100+ lbs and have seen a difference since it happened. You lost yours 'the hard way', though and I feel for ya. I achieved mine with a more healthy diet, lifestyle changes and (moderate) exercise. Can't say that I get hard like a teen, but I'm 70 and that extracts a toll, too.

Well I've lost some weight in the last year, likely due to diabetes. I could stand to lose another 15 lb or so, but probably not much more than that.

I've just found that my libido, ability to get and hold and erection, and my mood / energy level are all down relative to a few years ago, so maybe the low T levels is a partial explanation for that. And I'm hoping that testosterone replacement therapy will improve all of these at least somewhat.

My son-in-law was just telling me the other day that he takes the GNC supplement for testosterone and that it's been giving him more energy and all that. My doctor routinely checks my testosterone levels and it's been consistently in the normal range for, I guess, a guy my age. I'm aware that there's a... "danger" in taking such supplements if you don't really have low levels of testosterone but the only way you can really know is to have your doctor test your levels and if he says you need to take something to bring them up, do not hesitate to ask him about the pros and cons involved and especially the side affects and/or adverse reactions that can manifest themselves and understand that you may or may not experience any "bad" effects. I think that "over the counter" supplements should be even more investigated before taking them since such things aren't FDA-approved and could be "snake oil" or even a placebo kind of thing; you might find that it "works" because you're being told that they work and, well, you just believe it does. I also think that if you're taking an over the counter supplement, ya still might want to have a doctor test your testosterone levels anyway to see if that supplement is really working as advertised.

At the beginning, I should have said "testosterone replacement therapy" (TRT) rather than "supplement". My bad.

I do what the doctor says. I don't take "health supplements" or similar that are over-the-counter, no way.

I was just looking for anecdotal confirmation that TRT might actually improve the libido / erections. I know they are supposed to, but hearing a few first hand accounts helps to humanize the experience.

I don't know if there is any truth to this, but I've heard that older men getting Testosterone injections are more susceptible to Heart Attacks?

I'm 49 and suffer from low T, ED, and very low libido. That is before I started on testosterone injections about 5 years ago. I go to a local male hormone replacement center in my area. I can't say enough good things about it. It takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks to start seeing the benefits. Once it kicks in the first thing you'll notice is an increase in libido. And I'm not talking just a little bit... it's fucking unreal! Like I'm 13 again and can't stop jerking off. Doesn’t fix ED all the way but there is definite improvement. I use a cock ring and I can stay pretty hard. After a few months the libido starts to taper off but it's still pretty high. l'll then go off cycle for about four weeks and start back up. Other benefits are strength gains and less join pain. The only side effect I have is it causes inflammation which causes me to snore really bad and I don't sleep well. If you're overweight, not in good shape, or have high blood pressure DO NOT use testosterone injections. Your blood pressure will go up for sure. Also, hormone replacement centers are not covered by insurance so it's not cheap. But if you're in shape and can afford it it's definitely worth it.

I remember my mother telling me she had a surplus of the testosterone while being a teenager and her doctor gave her some hormones that were supposed to balance the level of testosterone. Since then my mother is obsessed with taking different supplements made just from natural extracts and recently she discovered the ones from healthcanal.com (https://www.healthcanal.com/supplements/260165-gundry-md-primal-plants.html). I like that she is very careful and is very responsible of what she consumes. At her age, I believe everyone should be.

Interesting thread. I've been wondering, lately, if my T-levels were low. Maybe I'll reach out to my doctor.

Well, I had my first shot from my FP. It cost a whole $4 co-pay for the prescription, and of course the other medical expenses were zero this being Canada (drugs aren't covered by the gov't plan unless you're over 65, which I'm not).

I go back in two weeks for my next one. I'm excited to see how things turn out.

The medical literature I have read on the problems associated with very high (abnormally so) levels of testosterone include heart damage, weight gain as well as abnormal levels of aggression. One of my FWB's that is my age quit using it because people told him it made him mean. Once you get testosterone perscribed the Dr will check you blood levels at least twice a year to be sure you are the appropriate level. Other than a slight increase in acne on my back I have had no other concerning side effects in the last 20 years on the stuff. In summary: talk to your doctor and let them handle keeping you where you need to be.

This is an excellent paper on the subject for those interested. Please keep in mind these are complications of TOO MUCH testosterone, NOT having an appropriate level.

Several years ago I used the cream. It didnt seem to do much for erections and I ended up with chest pains so I stopped. I dont think my Tcount was ever really high but now in my 70s and have lost a testicle to an infection so am limited to a pretty soft chubby. Sorry if its TMI.
